The new 2020 MacBook Air has been introduced with some new features at a cheaper price than the 2019 model. The new model has the latest 10th generation Intel processor with better graphics, so let's find out how it handles video editing.

Will a Macbook Air run Adobe Creative Cloud Apps as quickly as an iMac? I am looking to trade in an iMac for a MacBook Air, for portablity reasons, want to be able to work on the go. I need to know if a MacBook Air can operate as smoothly as an iMac when working with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Muse, and After Effects. You will be really happy to purchase a MacBook Air. Plus it has standard ports. Oh, and MagSafe connector for recharging. I almost solely use photoshop on my MacBook Air 11' despite the fact I have.
The MacBook Air might not be the first choice of on-the-go video editors; however, the new 2020 model comes in $100 cheaper than the previous model, with a better keyboard (the one that is used on the new Macbook Pro) and faster graphics. At first glance, the new Intel chips used on the new MacBook Air have low base clock speeds, but the turbo-boost clock speeds are high enough for most of the editing tasks.
Being the most portable Mac laptop with the longest battery life, MacBook Air is a great option for photographers who are always on the run. The base model costs as little as $999, although the specs of such a laptop won't satisfy the needs for bigger projects. The processor is 10th Gen Core i3—we recommend at least i5. It will run Photoshop fine, my fully spec Macbook Air runs it no problem and it's a similar spec. I'd recommend reading up on reviews from other developers and designers on the new model, I can't say I've seen anything positive and the price is a lot for pretty average hardware. Apple has really dropped the ball on this one. Photoshop is particularly fast on the M1 MacBook Pro (Image credit: Apple) On the new M1 MacBook Pro, Photoshop opens instantly, and huge image files can be edited faster than ever before. Even when working with an image file containing numerous layers, Adobe says selecting a subject is 8 times faster on M1 Macs.
Videographer Max Yuryev tests the new Intel i5 MacBook Air by using both processor and graphics-intensive tasks and compares the results with the previous generation i5 version and the 2020 base model that comes with the Intel i3 processor. In addition to the basic benchmarking tests, Yuryev also demonstrates 1080p and 4K editing on the new model and shares his results and thoughts in terms of performance, thermals, and noise.
What do you think about the performance of the new MacBook Air? Would you pick this one or a MacBook Pro for your editing workflow? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
There are some considerations before you get and load more into the drive of your Mac.
How large are those programs? What is their load on the CPU and GPU? How full is the
capacity of the storage drive now? Before you add stuff, these are potential issues.
Could be you may put too much at stake; I suggest you research possible use of these
additional applications on an external drive, where they won't load internal hard drive?
This idea may require due consideration and an upgrade to enable use of external as
repository for additional applications should the internal storage be too small.
External storage with fast data connection (external should have power supply) may
be an answer. For some tasks, a more sturdy macbook/pro or desktop mac is best.

Much has been unsaid, but the storage/SSD seems small for those plus macOS apps.
And there should also be some free work-space for virtual memory on even an SSD.

Hardware consideration before new or additional software, & means to use it are first.
